Certification process
This document must first be certified by a practising UK solicitor or notary public, who verifies it and attaches a signed certificate. Once certified, it is ready for the apostille. This is the usual route, but confirm the exact requirements with us when you start your order.

Digital e-Apostille
No — the FCDO does not issue an electronic e-Apostille for a dbs certificate, so this needs the paper apostille.
The Hague Convention
An apostille authenticates a UK public document for use in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. Destinations outside the convention may need further embassy legalisation instead.
