Draft — pending legal review

This wording is a plain-English draft, not reviewed legal advice. It is published so the links in our footer are not dead, and it will be replaced with solicitor-reviewed wording before we take it as binding. The gaps marked "[to be confirmed]" are facts only the company can supply, and the liability clause needs drafting rather than paraphrasing (BACKLOG §5).

The whole thing in three lines

  • We get your UK document apostilled by the FCDO and posted back to you, for one price agreed up front.
  • You send us a genuine original and confirm what the receiving organisation needs; we handle the FCDO and keep you updated.
  • If our pre-check passed your document and the FCDO still refuses it, you choose a full refund or a free resubmission.

1·Who we are

GetApostille is a trading name of Avya Labs Ltd, registered in England & Wales. Company number [to be confirmed]. Registered office [to be confirmed]. You can reach us at [to be confirmed].

2·What we do

We prepare and submit your document to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for an apostille, then return it to you by tracked post. We are an agent acting on your behalf: the apostille itself is issued by the FCDO, and we cannot compel them to issue one.

We are not a law firm and nothing we send you is legal advice. Whether an apostille is the right certification for your purpose is for you, or the organisation asking for it, to decide.

3·What it costs

Our all-in prices are £69 for an e-Apostille, £79 for a standard paper apostille and £109 for express. Each includes the FCDO's own fee, tracked return postage and the guarantee below. Multi-document orders are priced per document, because the FCDO charges its fee on every document.

Getting your original to us is the one thing not included. You can post it yourself, or add our prepaid tracked label for £5 — if you buy the label, the parcel is our responsibility from its first scan; if you don't, it travels at your risk.

The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. We will never add a fee after you have paid without asking you first.

4·What we need from you

You confirm that the document is a genuine original and that you are entitled to send it to us. Our guarantee covers genuine UK documents only.

You are responsible for checking what the organisation receiving your document actually requires — including whether they need a translation, or certification we do not provide.

5·Turnaround

Turnaround is counted from the day your document reaches us, not the day you order, because we cannot control the post on the way in. Most standard paper orders are back with you within 5 working days of arrival, and express in about 2–3.

These are our targets, not deadlines. Delays inside the FCDO or Royal Mail are outside our control. If we miss our own turnaround we upgrade your return delivery at our cost.

6·Our guarantee

If our pre-check passed your document and the FCDO then refuses to apostille it, you choose: a full refund of everything you paid us, or a free resubmission with us covering any extra cost such as fresh certification.

The guarantee covers genuine UK documents. It does not cover government fees or postage already spent on your behalf, and it does not cover a document being rejected by the organisation you send it to afterwards.

7·Cancelling and refunds

In short: full refund any time before we submit to the FCDO, none afterwards, and the guarantee above sits outside both. The full policy is on our refunds page and forms part of these terms.

8·Your documents, and our liability

Returns are tracked by default, and an insured courier is available on request. While your document is with us it is held securely and only handled by staff who need to.

Our liability if an original is lost or damaged — including any cap, and what we will do to help you replace the document — is [to be confirmed] and is one of the clauses awaiting legal review. We will not rely on any limit that is narrower than what UK consumer law allows.

9·Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms reduces your rights under UK consumer law. Because this is a service you ask us to begin straight away, your 14-day cancellation right ends once we have submitted to the FCDO.

10·Changes, and the law that applies

If we change these terms, the version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it — which is why every version here carries a date.

These terms are governed by the law of [to be confirmed], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.

Also here: privacy and refunds and cancellations.
